Crews are busy working on the Elmwood Golf Course renovation project. In just about a month the golf course will be complete with its first phase of renovation and be ready for golfers to hit the brand new course. However, recent weather has kept many golfers off the links already this year.
"The wind, when the temps are only in the 50's or whatever, it can make it not very playable so we're hoping the wind will die down anytime as far as we're concerned," President of Dakota Golf Management Tom Jansa said.
Jansa says he prepares for any type of weather in April but hopes for the best the rest of the season.
"May through September is the months we kind of count on a lot of good playable days, hopefully May will get off to a decent start," Jansa said.
But even though the wind, rain, and chilly temperatures, Jansa says it's been tough for crews to continue work on the first phase of the Elmwood Golf renovation project.
"Stretches of weather like this are tough to take sometimes, but that's the way it is when you're working in that area," Jansa said.
However, Jansa says the work is getting done and the first phase is on schedule to be complete by the first of June. When it's complete it will open up a brand new 9 holes for golfers.
"We'll live through three years of it being 9 holes down at a time, but in the end we'll have a great improved project," Jansa said.
