Edwards Sentenced To Time In Jail For Child Neglect

A former Sioux Falls day care provider will serve time in jail after pleading guilty to child neglect.  Connie Edwards was sentenced to 10 days in jail and banned from working in a day care the rest of her life.

In the summer of 2011, Edwards took nine children to Wild Water West and left 15 others, including four-month-old Meredith Ulmer, in the care of two teenage girls.  Ulmer died in an upstairs crib, a death that was ruled accidental.

Edwards pleaded guilty in March to misdemeanor child neglect for leaving the teens in charge of her over-capacity day care.
