The U.S. attorney's office says an Eagle Butte man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a charge of sexual abuse of a minor.
Twenty-one-year-old Alan Carter made his first court appearance this week before a U.S. magistrate. Carter is accused of engaging in a sexual act with a minor at Eagle Butte on or about Feb. 2. He was remanded to the custody of the U.S. marshal. An arraignment has been set for Friday.
The FBI and detectives from the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe are investigating the case.
