SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Drug crimes send Americans to jail each year, but is the country's war on drugs helping solve the problem or making it worse? That's just one of the questions a group is asking.

At the downtown Sioux Falls library on Thursday night at 6 p.m. there will be a movie screening of the documentary “The House I Live In.”

The award-winning film examines the country's drug incarceration rates and digs deep into questions of whether or not the current drug policies are working.

Critics have said this is one of the most important documentaries of the year because it addresses not only the system, but also the racist policies it often perpetuates.

The film is sponsored partly by South Dakota Families First and the ACLU of South Dakota.

It's a free event, open to the public. A meet and greet is set for 5:30 p.m., with the screening to start at 6 p.m. There is also a panel discussion set immediately following the movie.
