A man who caused a deadly crash while texting and driving has pleaded guilty.
22-year-old Brent O'Neal pleaded guilty Friday morning to first degree manslaughter.
O'Neal was arrested in July of 2012 after he caused a deadly crash near the intersection of 26th Street and Minnesota Avenue. O'Neal was texting and driving when he hit and killed motorcyclist Philip Sorenson.
During a jailhouse conversation with a visitor after his arrest, O'Neal admitted he was texting and driving and trying to make plans for his 21st birthday that night.
O'Neal tried to have those statements tossed out of court but a judge denied the motion.
No sentencing date has been set.
