A new Director of Prison Operations has been named in South Dakota.
Secretary of Corrections Denny Kaemingk announced Bob Dooley will take that position upon the retirement of Warden Doug Weber this summer.
Dooley started his corrections career at the State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls in 1983. The next year, he helped convert the USD/Springfield campus into a prison. He was named warden of the Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield in 1995.
Dooley will serve as the chief warden and be responsible for the overall management and direction of all state-run adult correctional facilities. He will continue as warden of the prison in Springfield and oversee minimum security units in Yankton and Rapid City.
The Department of Corrections is advertising to fill the warden position in Sioux Falls. Applications should be submitted to the Bureau of Human Resources by March 15.
