SIOUX FALLS, SD -
A local charity is getter closer to putting a lot of turkeys on the table for Thanksgiving.
Just last week, there wasn't a single Thanksgiving turkey at the Sioux Falls Food Bank. Since our story ran on Wednesday, there are now 30 birds on site. On Monday, KELO-TV donated $2,065 to add to the collection.
Jim Dawson of Feeding South Dakota hopes the donations inspire so many people to help out that the freezer overflows.
"This is the most expensive part of the Thanksgiving meal. So if we can get that turkey donated, then we can put together the rest of the fixings," Dawson said.
Even more donations are on the way. Dawson says they are expecting at least 210 more turkeys that are already committed.
