Dollansky Enjoying Running An Open Schedule

May 29, 2014, 10:37 PM by Travis Fossing

Dollansky Enjoying Running An Open Schedule
BRANDON, SD -

After spending 13 seasons competing full-time with the World of Outlaws, Craig Dollansky is running an open schedule this season, and putting fewer miles on the tires.

"It's going to have a lot of focus around Knoxville Raceway, and coming here to Huset's, one of my favorite racetracks, quite a bit," Craig Dollansky said.

Nicknamed "The Crowd Pleaser" for his aggressive and impressive style of driving, Craig Dollansky rejoined the Big Game Treestands #7 team for the 2014 season, and is competing closer to home.

"It's been an adjustment for us.  It's just different than what we've done over the past ten years or so, but I'm definitely embracing it," Dollansky said.

"I love getting behind the wheel of a racecar.  It's my favorite part.  Some of the travel, definitely not going to miss that part of it.  Some of the lengths of time that you're gone away from home.  Sometimes it's a month-and-a-half, two months.  It's got it's positives, but we're definitely going to be looking forward to racing the outlaws anytime we get the opportunity," Dollansky said.

Dollansky's new schedule also affords him the opportunity to help his son, Garrett, grow as a driver.

"It's given me the opportunity to race with my son down at Knoxville every week, and try and help him develop as a driver, and just be there with him," Dollansky said.

Whether he's racing at Huset's Speedway or around the world, Dollansky's goal remains the same...improve.

"We've got a few wins this year, but we've got some more work to do with our team yet to get it stronger.  You know, it's still a work in progress and we're still building this thing up, but it'll be a strong race team," Dollansky said.

Dollansky has posted three wins this season, including two at Knoxville Raceway, and has finished second and fourth in his two starts at Huset's Speedway.
