Documents In Lykken Search To Be Released

Documents In Lykken Search To Be Released
2004 Lykken Farm

VERMILLION, SD -

A Union County judge has ruled that the affidavit and search warrant that led South Dakota investigators to Kerwyn Lykken’s Union County farm in 2004 will be released.

The Lykken farm was searched in 2004 as authorities investigated the 1971 disappearance of Sherri Miller and Pam Jackson. Kerwyn’s brother, David, is in prison for an unrelated rape conviction but authorities wrongly-charged him in 2007 in connection with the disappearance of the two girls. Charges were later dropped when it was discovered that a prison snitch was lying about the case.

Last September a tip led authorities to the 1960 Studebaker Miller and Jackson were driving that night. It was submerged in a Union County creek. In April authorities determined that the girls simply died in a tragic car crash.

Following a KELOLAND News interview with Kerwyn Lykken, Attorney General Marty Jackley asked that the court documents be released that allowed authorities to search the Lykken farm.

Judge Steven Jensen ruled late Friday that the redacted documents will be released; however, it may take a couple weeks for the documents to become public.

KELOLAND’s Perry Groten was in court this afternoon and will have more details tonight on KELOLAND News at 6 and 10.
