A historical documentary on the life of West River resident James "Scotty" Philip is being shown in Pierre Saturday.
Former Philip area resident Justin Koehler created "The Buffalo King."
Philip was known as "the man who saved the buffalo."
John Duffy, a Fort Pierre resident who has studied Philip's life, says not enough people know about Philip and what he has meant to Central South Dakota.
He says the documentary accurately portrays Philip and his contribution to this area. Some of the footage is from the Historic Bad River Scotty Philip Trail Ride in 2011.
The free showing begins at 11 a.m. at the State 1-2-3 Theatre.
