The Sioux Falls school board is ruffling some feathers with its latest decision involving teachers and their children.
In previous years, the district allowed teachers to take care of their own children in the classroom once the school day was complete. It was a way for teachers to save money on child care and it allowed teachers more time to spend time with their kids while they were still at work.
Now, in a reversal, the district is no longer allowing the teachers to keep their kids in the classrooms after school hours. The ruling by the district is not sitting well with some teachers, and on Monday, the school board will offer a reason for this new policy.
The school board will allow time after the regular agenda Monday evening to let teachers speak about how this new decision is affecting them and whether the new policy should stay in tact.
While no firm decision on the policy is expected to be made, the open forum will allow teachers and the district to get all perspectives out in the open.
