District Cuts Ribbon On New Middle School
Ann McGovern

George McGovern's legacy will live on for generations to come.

Today the Sioux Falls School District held a ribbon cutting at the new McGovern Middle School -- on the northwest side of Sioux Falls.

Members of the McGovern family joined students and staff for the celebration.

“It would be an emotional day for him.  He'd feel very proud and excited and wanting to get to know these children. I don't know exactly what he would say but I know how he would feel,” daughter Ann McGovern said.

Ann McGovern says even if students don't remember her father as a politician, she hopes they are inspired by his tireless effort end world hunger and his love of education.
