Dirty Thief? South Dakota Man Reports Stolen Soap

October 5, 2012, 12:08 PM

RAPID CITY, SD -

When a Rapid City man awoke to take a shower, he noticed something was missing from his bathroom: his bar of Dove soap.

Police say that's how the man figured out early Thursday that his house had been hit by a dirty thief.

Police spokeswoman Tarah Heupel says that the victim also tells officers that a laptop was stolen. No other items are reported as missing.

The burglary was in the 3000 block of Sunset Drive in the western South Dakota city. The man reported that when he went to bed Wednesday night, everything was fine.

Heupel says police are "on it."
