ABERDEEN, SD -

Authorities are advising no travel in parts of northeast South Dakota.

The Brown County Highway Superintendent has pulled county trucks off the roads. Jan Weismantel says truck drivers were hauling gravel but conditions deteriorated and some could hardly see when turning onto a highway.

A South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper who’s been on the roads in northeast South Dakota is asking people to stay home if possible. He says conditions can change quickly. While driving he says he could see a quarter mile in some places but only 100 yards in others.

Authorities are also warning that slick, slushy conditions may become more icy throughout the day.
