Devils Tower Crash Kills Illinois Man, Child Hurt

August 7, 2014, 5:18 PM

DEVILS TOWER, WY -

An Illinois man is dead after a tractor-trailer struck his car near Devils Tower.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says 65-year-old Bruce M. Hinton, of Lindenhurst, Illinois, failed to yield when he exited a scenic pullout on Wyoming Highway 24 on Tuesday.

A Freightliner driven by a New Underwood, South Dakota, man ran into Hinton's 2003 Mercedes.

Patrol officials say the truck driver tried to avoid the crash. A 9-year-old child in the car was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition.

The semi driver wasn't hurt in the crash.
