Developers Promise First-Class Destination Resort

May 13, 2010, 5:05 PM by Ben Dunsmoor

Developers Promise First-Class Destination Resort
Developers say it'll be a lot like Las Vegas, only much closer to home. A luxury resort, casino and golf course will soon take shape in Lyon County, Iowa, just inches from the South Dakota state line and minutes from Sioux Falls.

It's a multi-million dollar decision that's expected to have a widespread impact.

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission voted unanimously Thursday to approve the Lyon County resort and casino. It was the only new casino in the state to receive a license; the other three applications were rejected because commissioners said they would cut into the business of Iowa's 17 other casinos.

That isn't a concern with the Lyon County plan and developers Kehl Management couldn't be happier.

"We're very excited. We think they made a great decision and we thank them for all the hard work that they've put into the project," CEO, Lyon Co. Resort and Casino Dan Kehl said.

The new casino and golf resort will include a 100 room hotel, three restaurants, an 18-hole golf course, and 900 slot machines. Developers promise it will be a first-class destination resort that will have an impact on the entire region.
