PIPESTONE, MN -
Officials are investigating a deputy-involved shooting in southwestern Minnesota.
Pipestone County Sheriff Dan Delaney says a deputy responded to a call of a domestic disturbance at a home on the 700 block of 2nd Avenue South West in Pipestone before 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The sheriff says the deputy was trying to get the unruly male suspect to cooperate with him outside the home.
But after several warnings, it is reported the deputy ended up shooting the suspect.
One witness tells KELOLAND News the suspect was threatening the deputy with a meat cleaver before he was shot.
The suspect was air lifted to a Sioux Falls hospital.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the incident.
