BROOKINGS, SD -
South Dakota State University students are proud of the Jack's season despite how it ended.
The Student Union is a buzz as Jackrabbit fans recount Thursday night's tournament-ending game for the men's basketball team.
"We didn't get in the right rhythm and I think that kind of hurt us in the end. I think that's where it started," Jonathan Trieber said, SDSU junior.
Amid national speculation the Jacks could go deep as a Cinderella team, the Michigan Wolverines came out on top 71 to 56 in Auburn Hills.
And while the team will go home without a win, the fans are proud they went to the dance.
"I think they played very well and at least they made it to the tournament. You got to play up the positives," Joe Donahoe said, SDSU senior.
"They got our name out there. They are getting our school some recognition, some well deserved recognition for a really good school," Mikaela Smedsrud said, SDSU fifth year senior.
And even though the men are out of the tournament, Jackrabbit fans look forward to the women playing on Saturday.
"I think it is a big deal. Hopefully our women can come through," Trieber said. "I will be watching them just as hard as I did the men."
