A death at a Sioux Falls hotel led to a drug bust and three arrests.
Police were called to the Residence Inn, near the Empire Mall at 1:30 a.m. Thursday. They searched the purse of the woman who died to find identification, instead police say they found baggies of cocaine.
The 41-year-old's death does not appear to be suspicious, but police say a search of a car and a hotel room turned up more cocaine along with medical prescriptions and numerous bottles of prescription drugs, including Oxycodone, Naproxen and Clonazepam.
The woman and three others had traveled to Sioux Falls from Florida. Police say on more than one occasion, they'd gotten prescriptions in Miami and then driven to Sioux Falls to fill them. Investigators believe they then took the drugs back to Florida to sell them. Police say the suspects say it's cheaper to buy the medications in South Dakota.
Police arrested Grady McKinney, Marvin Hollinger and Dominique St. Amand for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. They are scheduled to be in court Friday afternoon.
