An autopsy on a Rapid City woman who died after being stabbed in a parking lot found she was pregnant.
Authorities say Michael Young attacked Morgan Myers late Thursday afternoon in a Walmart parking lot. When officers arrived on the scene, they say Young took off and ran to a nearby motel where he barricaded himself in a bathroom and stabbed himself. Young is being detained by law enforcement at the hospital.
An autopsy found Myers was five weeks pregnant. The two had previously worked together at Walmart, though Young was terminated from his employment earlier this month. Myers and Young had also been involved in a relationship. Myers had been granted a permanent protection order against Young on April 20.
Authorities say Young will be charged with first degree murder, fetal homicide and violation of a protection order.
