The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the name of the man arrested in a high-speed pursuit in Mitchell that claimed the life of a nine-year-old girl.
46-year-old Michael Sedlmeier of Mitchell is charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular battery, DUI and aggravated eluding.
Investigators say Sedlmeier was speeding on Mitchell's Main Street Saturday afternoon and refused to pull over when officers tried to stop him.
The pursuit ended when Sedlmeier's car crashed into a SUV at an intersection, killing the girl who was riding in the SUV.
Police arrested Sedlmeier after he allegedly tried to run from the scene.
