Though the cold has been more obnoxious this winter as compared to past winters, the snow amounts have been fairly light. Since December 1, Sioux Falls has had 21 days with measurable snowfall. Sixteen of those have been an inch or less. Since 1990, Sioux Falls has averaged 21 days with measurable snow during December through February.
So far, we're slightly above our winter average with 19.3inches of snow as compared to our climate average through February 9 of just over 18 inches.
Though the cold is expected to slowly ease over the next several days, we do have another chance for light snow around midweek. That snow will put us over our average for days with measurable snow.
