In just 11 days, a total of eight fires have burned in Day County.
On Thursday afternoon, eight fire departments responded to a fire that spread quickly one mile northeast of Crandall, South Dakota.
The Day County Sheriff says a bearing overheated on a baler and started the fire in a hay field. It burned across grasslands, pastures and jumped a road to reach the Crandall Hills.
It burned between 80 and 100 acres before fire crews got it contained. No one was injured.
County officials are reminding everyone to be careful with fire and when working in fields
