The daughter of a 48-year-old woman who died in Minnehaha County's detoxification center has filed a lawsuit seeking records surrounding the death.
Charleen Karr was found unresponsive at the detox center in November shortly after being admitted. The Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office ruled the death a suicide, saying that a toxic level of rubbing alcohol was found in her blood.
Bethany Karr, who is acting as the special administrator for her mother's estate, filed the petition in circuit court this week. She's also asking that officials be questioned under oath.
The sheriff's office and county commission office declined to discuss the pending litigation.
The facility has been on probation because of a state investigation into safety issues.
