PIERRE, SD -
It is now illegal to buy or possess synthetic drugs in South Dakota.
Governor Dennis Daugaard has signed emergency legislation outlawing designer drugs
, including bath salts, Spice and K2.
Law enforcement is working to notify retailers statewide that they can no longer sell the products and warning them of compliance checks.
“This legislation addresses serious health and public safety concerns that are too often affecting school age children,” Attorney General Marty Jackley said in a statement. “We remain hopeful that retailers will work with law enforcement to remove these dangerous chemicals from South Dakota.”
