South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard is attending the National Governors Association winter meeting in Washington, D.C.
Lt. Gov. Matt Michels says Daugaard will meet this weekend with the Department of Defense about possible future funding for Ellsworth Air Force Base.
Daugaard is chairman of the association's National Resources Committee. Michels says that committee will meet with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials to discuss extreme weather events, such as flooding.
The governors and spouses will dine at the White House with President Barack Obama and the First Lady on Sunday night. They're expected to see the president again Monday.
