Daugaard Appoints Two To Military Affairs Board

January 5, 2013, 12:22 PM

PIERRE, SD -

Governor Dennis Daugaard has appointed two South Dakotans to the Board of Military Affairs.

Robert Shepherd of Sisseton and Kim Vanneman of Ideal will start their new position on January 8.

Shepherd is currently the tribal chairperson of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate and served in the Navy from 1996 to 2004. Vanneman is a three term member of the South Dakota House of Representatives, but her legislative term ends January 8.

Both Shepherd and Vanneman are additions to the board after it expanded from five to seven members in 2012.

The Board of Military Affairs deals with the general management of National Guard armories across the state.
