Crumbling SD Highway Closed For Repairs
April 14, 2011, 11:40 AM
STICKNEY, SD -
South Dakota transportation officials have closed a stretch of SD Highway 42 because the road is breaking up and the grade is soft.
The road is closed from US Highway 281 in Aurora County, east to the Davison County line. There is water on either side of the roadway and a section is has become muddy and impassible. Officials expect repairs to be finished sometime next week.
They are reminding drivers to be careful when they come across areas where the water is flowing alongside or over the road. Bad weather and high winds can push the water and debris onto the road, creating dangerous conditions.
