Several KELOLAND kids had the chance to get up close to several unique kinds of animals at the Great Plains Zoo on Sunday.
Among many activities, the program allowed visitors a hands-on time with a friendly hedgehog at the Critter Cabin. Trained volunteers showed people several animals they may not otherwise get a chance to see.
Zookeeper Scott Voss says, "Smaller critters that people can touch and feel that they normally wouldn't have an opportunity when they're in their tanks or exhibits."
The Critter Cabin will be open until Labor Day. An African sand-boa and a bearded dragon will also be featured this summer.
