Two people are dead after a car crash just south of Mitchell.
The Davison County Sheriff's Office says one vehicle was headed northbound and another was headed southbound then the vehicles hit each other head on.
Witnesses say a young man who came upon the crash used a knife to cut a seat belt and remove the girl from one of the burning vehicles.
Shortly after the crash was reported, a pickup was on fire and a charred van was also on the scene. Traffic was being diverted and smoke could be seen from several miles away.
A section of the highway has been closed off while authorities conduct their investigation.
Authorities say the investigation into what caused this crash is ongoing.
