Donald Moeller will soon be executed for a crime he committed more than two decades ago.
Moeller's execution is scheduled for 10 p.m. Tuesday at the South Dakota State Penitentiary.
Moeller was sentenced to die for the 1990 kidnapping, rape and murder of nine-year-old Becky O'Connell.
He's been appealing his death sentence for several years, but many of his appeals have run out and he gave up one of his final appeals earlier this month and admitted to the crime.
Monday morning, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed a final appeal that was attempted by Moeller's stepsister; in essence, this is now paving the way for Moeller's execution to take place.
We do know that Tina Curl, Becky O'Connell's mother, plans to be there to witness the execution. In past conversations, Curl has said she has been waiting for this day when justice can be done for her daughter. Curl has said that she feared that Moeller would outlive her and she would never be able to see the day when her daughter's killer would be put to death.
