Council Gets Update On Events Center
March 21, 2011, 4:00 PM

SIOUX FALLS, SD -
The Sioux Falls City Council is scheduled to get an update on the Events Center project on Monday afternoon.
Since the last update in February, an architectural firm hired by the city selected a potential downtown location for an Events Center. Sink Combs Dethlefs says the parking lot just to the east of Cherapa Place would be the best area to build the 12,000 seat facility in downtown. Another plan calls for the facility to be built near the Sioux Falls Arena and Convention Center.
Firms hired by the city are now doing a comparative analysis of the two sites. That report is scheduled to be finished during the week of April 18, 2011.
On Tuesday of this week, the city will hold an Events Center Public Open House at Morningside Community Center. Representatives from the firms that are working on the project will be on hand to answer questions from 5 to 7 p.m.
