Crews are finishing up the parking lot in front of the soon-to-open Costco in Sioux Falls. The carts for the store are still wrapped in plastic and those already checking out the store say they're excited.
"My daughter went to Costco in Minneapolis and she got some good buys there all the time," Della Pulford said.
That's why Pulford and others are already visiting the store to purchase their memberships.
"We finally got the road construction done so we can get to the store, and you know, when you come it, it gives you a better flavor of what to expect at Costco," Costco Marketing & Membership Manager David Burkholder said.
Memberships range from $55 to $110 and are required to shop in the store. But the marketing and membership manager for the store says you shouldn't confuse it with other locations that require a yearly membership.
"We cater to the consumer. Eighty percent of the product that we carry will actually fit into your refrigerator or your pantry. Twenty percent of what we sell is actually bulk," Burkholder said.
As for the store itself, the final touches are being put onto the building all in anticipation of next Thursday's grand opening.
“They're doing the final touches on security systems and we've just had our fire and health inspections. We passed with flying colors and everything is really coming to a pitch. Now one week from today [Thursday], we open,” Burkholder said.
For new members like Pulford, that date can't come soon enough.
"Very much excited. I've been waiting and wanting it here," Pulford said.
Costco is offering some gift cards back for new members. However, there are offers circulating on Facebook that claim to be giving gift cards worth more than $400. Burkholder says those are not a legitimate.
