SIOUX FALLS, SD -
The level of several Missouri River reservoirs will fall 2 to 3 feet in September as the Army Corps of Engineers makes room to store next year's runoff.
The agency said the biggest change in elevation will be in Garrison, Oahe and Fort Randall reservoirs.
Many of the reservoirs are storing more water this year because runoff is 153 percent of average. The Corps of Engineers has to drawn down the lakes by March 1 to make room for next year's runoff.
Lakes Oahe and Garrison are expected to still be 10 to 11 feet above normal elevation at the end of September.
