Wednesday's sunshine helped temperatures warm up above average, which is a nice change.
The average high for the first part of the month in Sioux Falls has been about a degree cooler than usual. That's because we haven't seen a strong warm front.
The cooler air arrived in KELOLAND last month, when the highs averaged two degrees cooler than usual. October broke a streak of 12 consecutive months of warmer-than-normal highs in Sioux Falls.
Cooler air will move back in on Thursday, but the temperatures will warm back above average for the weekend. Then it looks like a see-saw battle for the rest of the month.
Those shifting temperatures are a sign of a changing pattern, which could eventually lead to more moisture.
And for now, the forecast remains mostly dry through Turkey Day.
