Cool July A Top Ten For Some Areas

The National Climate and Data Center released its July report for the US. There were few surprises, KELOLAND was cooler than average. While we didn't set any records, some areas did have a top ten coolest on record month.

Sioux Falls had the seventh coldest July on record, Pierre had the eighth coldest July on record and Rapid City had the tenth coldest July on record. The Aberdeen area was on average 1.2 degrees below the climate average so it had the 41st coldest July on record.

The KELOLAND viewing area as a whole had the 18th coldest July on record with being, on average, three degrees below the climate average for July. The most recent Climate Prediction Center's forecast has KELOLAND continuing to be below average till at least October. Over the next week though, the forecast is set to have much of the area back to average highs or slightly above average by the end of next week.
