Consumer Reports Health Reform Guide

November 16, 2012, 9:50 PM by Angela Kennecke

Consumer Reports Health Reform Guide
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

It's that time of year again; time to make some important decisions about your health care coverage in open enrollment with your company.

Consumer Reports has published a free guide with seven things you need to know now about Health Reform.  It can help you understand how the changes from the Affordable Care Act will affect you.

This year for the first time, your health insurance company has to provide you with a simple form that can help compare one plan to another.

The Summary of Benefits and Coverage chart also helps you figure out your bottom line cost for several common medical situations, like having a baby.

It also has to tell you if your plan doesn't cover specific procedures, so there are no surprises.

Plus, there is a long list of preventive services that are now covered because of the Affordable Care Act. It includes many immunizations like your yearly flu shot.

The guide also explains new tax laws for deducting medical expenses and the new cap of how much you can put into your flexible spending account.

The Consumer Reports Guide also looks ahead to what's coming in Health Care.

"Under the healthcare law, you may see changes in your health care this year. There are new benefits on the way, including new ways to buy and afford health insurance. With open enrollment underway, you should check out the best options for you and your family," Consumer Reports representative Chris Meyer said.

The guide also tells you how to qualify for discounts on your health insurance.
