SIOUX FALLS, SD -
Consumers faced error messages on the government's website to apply for health insurance on the Marketplace.
In many cases it took time for the log-in page to appear. When it did finally allow KELOLAND News to log in, a list of required security questions were left blank. Our attempt to reload the page was met with another error message saying: "The system is down at the moment. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Please try again later."
We also called the HealthCare.gov hotline at 1-800-318-2596 and were put on hold for 15 minutes before the line disconnected.
A spokesman for the federal Health and Human Services Department, the government agency running the exchanges, said federal officials were aware of the problems and trying to fix them.
A news conference for the media for an operational update scheduled for 1 p.m. CST was postponed until 3 p.m. CST.
