Cold Weather Welcomed For Frosty Frolics

January 12, 2013, 6:08 PM by Jenna Petrak

Cold Weather Welcomed For Frosty Frolics
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Jack Frost couldn't have picked a better time to drop Sioux Falls. The cold temperatures help Sioux Falls Parks and Rec celebrate Frosty Frolics weekend.

Those who weren't afraid of the wind, practiced their skating skills at Memorial Park Saturday afternoon.

With free skate rentals all weekend, many were eager to hop on the ice, especially since last year's higher-than-usual temperatures kept the ice rinks off limits. But the now average weather has people trying something new.

“Curling is just something different. A lot of people have heard about it or seen it on the Olympics. But when you come out it's almost like shuffle-boarding. It's a lot of team work, a lot of strategy. But it's a lot of fun,” Mike Ford with the Sioux Falls Curling Association said.

And if you haven't had a chance to check out Frosty Frolics, there are events scheduled both Saturday night and also Sunday afternoon.
