Cold Weather Lowering Attendance At Great Bear

December 8, 2013, 5:25 PM by Leland Steva

Cold Weather Lowering Attendance At Great Bear

The Cold Weather deterred skiers and snowboarders from hitting the slopes at Great Bear Recreational Area this weekend.

The recreation park was open during the bitter cold Saturday and they didn't see the numbers they normally do.

Great Bear does monitor the weather, and they will close if the wind chill reaches minus 25.

General Manager Dan Grider wants people that are enjoying the ski hill to do it safely.

“Well you just have to dress for the conditions, make sure you got good equipment and you wear a hat or a helmet, you know quality gloves, mittens, you know socks, you go to your local retailer, go to Sun And Fun wherever, there's all sorts of good gear out there. Just make sure you're dressed correctly,” Grider said.

Great Bear will be using the cold weather and the fresh snow that has fallen and they will be fully open much earlier than they were a year ago.
