Now that the snow is done, arctic air is taking over. Lows will be well below zero the next couple mornings. In fact, some records could even fall.
Here's a look at some of the record lows for Friday through Sunday.
Many locations will need to fall to the twenties below to set records Friday morning. Saturday morning will not be as difficult as some areas will set records if they fall to the teens below zero. Pierre and Watertown are the ones most likely within reach. By Sunday morning, it's back to the twenties below to set records. The 33 below in Mobridge is the coldest December reading for them on record.
The best set up to get the record lows is to have snow cover, light winds, and clear skies. The fresh snow is in place, now it's a matter of clearing out with light winds.
