As temperatures warmed to the 40s and 50s on Wednesday, there was plenty of melting snow and ice. It was warm enough to give many people thoughts of spring, but we'll have another hit of cold air to kill those dreams.
It all starts on Thursday. Northwest winds will increase to allow for much colder air into the upper plains. Thursday could end up being one of those days where the temperatures remain steady or slowly fall during the afternoon.
Expect colder than average temps for the weekend. But after our chance for snow on Monday, there's a stronger push of cold air on the way for much of next week. That should allow for temperatures to easily fall below zero for overnight lows.
Cold air is dense and as a result it's hard to move. I wouldn't be surprised if some of that cold lasts into March.
