Closet Fire Quickly Extinguished

Sioux Falls fire crews responded to a report of a structure fire at 1901 S. Menlo Avenue around 10:40 a.m.

Smoke was coming from the second story window as crews arrived on the scene. After firefighters has completed their initial investigation and confirmed everyone was out of the home, they determined the fire was confined to a closet and were able to extinguish it in 15 minutes.

A total of five trucks, a command vehicle and 20 firefighters were on scene. The American Red Cross was also on hand to provide assistance to the occupying family.

The house did have working smoke detectors.
