Clinics Fill Up As Flu Continues To Spread

January 10, 2013, 5:21 PM by Kelly Bartnick

Clinics Fill Up As Flu Continues To Spread
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

So what do the numbers mean to you and your chances of coming down with the flu?

At Avera McGreevey on West 41st Street in Sioux Falls, 5 p.m. is the time of night when people really start piling into acute care. Flu symptoms can come on quickly and that means a lot of people come to acute care instead of making an appointment with their regular doctor.

If you do come, expect to wait because waiting rooms are filling up.

You can also expect to get a mask. It's for your safety, just as much as it is for the patients around you as they continually work to limit the flu spread.

Flu symptoms typically involve a fever, body aches, dry cough and more and as we mentioned they can come on in just a matter of hours.
