You've heard about it for more than two decades: Climate Change. More than 800 authors put the first part of an updated report together and the 36 page SUMMARY was released Friday morning. The lengthy full report will be released Monday, but climate scientists are more convinced than ever that Earth is warming and humans are causing it.
The report calls global warming "unequivocal" and "unprecedented." It also addresses skeptics of science who have been fighting the notion of global warming over the past 15 years, pointing to data which *they say shows the Earth hasn't warmed as much of late. The authors say it is "VIRTUALLY CERTAIN" that our part of the atmosphere has warmed since 1951.
While it's difficult to tie a changing climate to specific weather, researchers say it's "VERY LIKELY" we're seeing an increase in 'heavy precipitation' events in central North America as a result of global warming. Obviously, KELOLAND has seen plenty of drought and plenty of rain, depending on the year. These big ups and downs are increasing as scientists continue to track 'extreme weather.'
Bottom line? There's no denying our influence on the planet
