City To Share Potential Downtown Events Center Site
February 24, 2011, 7:42 AM
SIOUX FALLS, SD -
An architectural team has identified a potential downtown Events Center site in Sioux Falls.
The city has scheduled a news conference for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Main Library to share the location. The Events Center architectural team of Sink Combs Dethlefs and Koch Hazard Architects looked for the most suitable and feasible downtown site.
Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether is pushing to build a new Events Center near the current Sioux Falls Arena. But a group that wants it downtown argues putting it in the heart of the city will generate more revenue.
Now that the architectural team has identified a downtown location, the team will do a comparative analysis of the existing Arena/Convention Center site and the downtown site.
