The City of Sioux Falls will release the details of a new hotel planned for Elmwood Golf Course on Thursday.
The city is working with a development group to build the hotel at Elmwood. There is no franchise being named for the hotel yet.
The city will also show potential plans for the development of seven acres in the Sports and Entertainment District. The area includes the new Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, the Sioux Falls Convention Center and Arena, as well as Howard Wood Field. It also extends north to the 162-acre Sanford Sports Complex.
The seven acres for proposed commercial development are across the street from the new events center and Howard Wood Field.
Thursday's announcement is being held by Darrin Smith, Director of Community Development, and Don Kearney, Director of Parks and Recreation.
Current development in the Sports and Entertainment District include two hotels, a restaurant and several gas stations.
According to the area development plan, over the next 25 years, the northwest area will see a 310 percent increase in total population.
