City Council Incumbents Sweep Election

April 10, 2012, 10:33 PM by Brady Mallory

City Council Incumbents Sweep Election
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

KELOLAND News caught up with each of the winners of the other city council seats.  Greg Jamison's opponents failed to unseat him for the Southwest District.  Jamison came out ahead with 66 percent, totaling 1,406 votes.  The win was a humbling experience.

"Well, it is good to win.  After serving four years, you'd hope people would find your work acceptable and want you to stay and serve another four years and I'm thankful for that.  I'm excited," Jamison said.

The winner of the Northwest District is another incumbent.  Dean Karsky took 75-percent of the vote, totaling 1,552 votes.  Karsky is already planning for the future.

"We've got to focus on our infrastructure and talk about our roads, talk about 41st Street, the core.  We want to talk about code enforcement, talk about making sure people have places to live that are acceptable and neighborhoods people want to live in," Karsky said.

One final incumbent remains in his seat.  Kenny Anderson Jr. won the Northeast District with 1,399 votes and 78 percent of the vote.  He first shared the news of his victory with his mom over the telephone; then he shared some future plans with KELOLAND News.

"It's been a long three months now, but it's time to roll up our sleeves and get back to work and make sure the projects in the city are moving forward and do the peoples' work," Anderson said.

Winning the two School Board seats are Kate Parker and Todd Thoelke.  Parker had 6,805 votes with 33 percent, and Thoelke had 6,002 votes with 29 percent.
