Each year, the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation holds a big event, called "City Blossom."
The event held Thursday night helps raise money that the Community Foundation then uses to give to local non-profits. This year's event sold out quickly, and raised more than $230,000.
The Foundation also uses this occasion to honor a group that used previous grant money to do big things.
"We're going to be honoring the Somali Bantu Community Development Councils. They got $820 from us four years ago, and they have turned it into a fabulous literacy program that serves 90 people," Community Foundation CEO Candy Hanson said.
Somali Bantu will now receive $5,000.
Thursday evening's event sold out quickly, however, they will start planning next year's event soon. Hanson encourages people to buy tickets early for this big night.
