Church Service Personalized For Sept. 11
September 11, 2011, 5:07 PM
SIOUX FALLS, SD -
Elsewhere in Sioux Falls, the East Side Lutheran Church personalized their 9/11 service Sunday.
As parishioners walked in, each member was given the name of one of the victims who died 10 years ago today. In fact, one church leader grew up with the man whose name is on his chest.
“He was on the top of the 2nd tower, a senior vice president at a firm and was killed,” Rev. Olaf Roynesda of East Side Lutheran Church said. “Weeks later they did find his torso so they were able to have some remains to bury.”
While church-goers are honoring those who died, they hope the service brings a feeling of hope for the future.
